Construction of Hydro Power Plants In Bhutan: The Perks of working - Anthropological

These are my perspectives. I don't intent to make statements. This is a blog, and there is nothing official here. Don't get provoked is all I ask. Nothing more than that. For every man is entitled to opinions, even if he is wrong.

When it comes for Hydro Power Plants in Bhutan, it is not only conceived as a revenue generating cow but also as a cow that gives cow dung. But most often, our people don't know how to handle the cow dung so they haven't conceived these upcoming projects with positive attitude.

Today, let's converse over why Hydro Power Projects have been seen as a means not to earn but to put a nation in Debt? You see, if you really stick to the plan to generate 10,000 MW by 2020, I think by 2030 we could clear off all the debts for those particular 10,000 MW. I did few of the calculations and if I am not wrong, then once when we hit 10,000 MW, every year we could clear off debts for 1000 MW. Calculations as well be shown in next post ( let's presume that I am right :p ).

In Loco Parentis.

"The campus is full of cigarette butts and you being a House Captain, you all should be lashed more", said one of my teachers and gave me three lashes on my left palm. He chose left and not right, because he believed that if he would lash us on right palms, we all would sell it off as our alibi for not doing home works.

What had we done? How many of us were lashed?

Pretty much everybody. I was in twelfth standard and somebody had organised inter class football match with some amount of entry fees. The winner would get roughly 12 grand, and that too in the year 2006. Quite a lot of money and we had enrolled ourselves on gambling. Officially, minors gambling. The organizer however, a junior kid got Mohammad Ali punches from the very Teacher. He however didn't sue the Teacher.

The winner took away 12 grands but were the first team to be beaten up. Their players were made to come forward by saying, "Real Madrid gi players tshu ya losh". Players of Real Madrid, Stand up.

Why so Apolitical?

There was a time, I would write about politics, I would write why we faced inflation and why they raised their salaries. That was in first term. But during those days, not many would. Then within a year or two, it became a viral thing in Bhutan to write against one party or the other.

I have however enjoyed my peace of mind, ever since I stopped reading news and started to become ignorant about the whole governance thing. It has become a very sensitive issue over the years to actually have comment on anything, the moment politics is discussed. You are judged for being a PDP supporter or a DPT supporter.

They who knew friendship.

They who knew friendship.

Do you want to hear a story? Okay, let me begin with, once upon a time, there lived a man, who wasn’t rich and had gotten married to a girl. But I ask you to make it to the end, then only will you enjoy this story.

The girl was the younger sister and he had left his home town, Sarpang. He got married to her, probably because he was Tamang as well. During those days, inter caste marriage was equivalent to Halley’s Comet.

My father's Maruti 800

My father came from a very poor family, but then again, who didn't in his generation? They would walk barefoot for hours to school. Not my father, he was just fortunate to have school near his house, and he was a good student. Today, most of his classmates have prospered well in life. He however went back to teaching at the age of 52.

The Book: Dear Seday.

"How does Seday look like?" Tenzin asked Nadola.
"She is the most beautiful woman in this world," Nadola answered. "As beautiful as Aishwarya Rai?" Tenzin queried. "More than her," Nadola said, his half thought already picturing his beloved girl. "No one is more beautiful than Aishwarya Rai," Tenzin said. Nadola got distracted. He turned to Tenzin and looked deep, almost sending fear into Tenzin's soul.
